    Day three. Are you still with me?

    So, how are you feeling about our Six Days of Seriously Satisfying Smoothies adventure? Energized? Refreshed? Inspired?

    …hungry?

    If you’re not someone who typically eats breakfast every day, you might be struggling with the new morning routine. I mean, the last thing you needed was one more thing to remove an extra 5-minutes of sleeping. But if you really think about how you’re feeling…truly stop to think and reflect on how you feel by lunchtime after having something for breakfast versus your usual cup(s) of coffee, perhaps you’ll find that you are feeling better.

    Remember, we’re talking about small, simple and sustainable steps toward adopting better eating habits. Have the first two days of having smoothies for breakfast rocked your world? GREAT! If not, hang in there, I think you’ll find that by day six, you’ll wonder how you ever got out the door without breakfast.

    If you’re one of those people who growls and scowls until you’ve put something edible in your face in the morning, you might be finding this whole smoothie experiment a bit too, well, fluffy for you. Maybe you’re more of a bacon and eggs kind of human. Hey, that’s fine (though you probably should steer clear of the bacon part). But, hasn’t it been great to sneak in a serving or two of fruit every morning without even thinking about it? Because, hey, most experts say that a minimum of nine servings (NINE) of fruits and vegetables every day (EVERY DAY) is best for optimal health. Think about it, you’ve already had two before lunch!

    Unless you’re the kind of person who eats salad for breakfast….in which case, I hope you enjoy the little break from lunch-for-breakfast (and you GO for having veggies at breakfast!).

    This smoothie will be a favorite if you’re a fan of cinnamon (which, incidentally, seems to have positive effects on blood sugar (great for the first meal of the day) and cholesterol levels)).

    The chia adds a bit of protein, fiber and healthy fat while the blueberries are packed with antioxidants and the banana with potassium.

    As for bacon….not so much.

    Blueberry, Banana, Chia, Cinnamon Smoothie

    servings: 1 | time: about 5 minutes

    ingredients:

    1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

    1 cup frozen blueberries

    1/2 of a medium banana (preferably frozen)

    1/2 cup plain low fat yogurt

    1 tsp. stevia

    1/4 tsp. cinnamon

    2 tsp. chia seeds

    directions:

    1. Place all of the ingredients in a blender and puree on high for 2 minutes. Enjoy immediately
